A cycling journey, from Marlborough Sounds to Milford Sound raising funds to support the ‘Child Cancer Foundation’.
Auckland
Mike Carol and Tim Dowden, two Volunteer Firemen from Kawakawa Bay have decided to take on the awesome challenge of cycling from Ship Cove, Marlborough Sounds to Milford Sound, a self-supported 1,500 km journey, including approx. 16,888 meters of climbing (55,400 ft).
As individuals in a closely-knit community, we decided that this was our opportunity to help and support a much needed foundation who receive no direct government funding and who rely on the generosity of fellow Kiwis to support these children and their families. The ‘Child Cancer Foundation’ help these families by supporting them every step of the way by connecting them with a Family Support Coordinator, who is there to provide them with one-to-one support in five main areas: emotional wellbeing, social connection, practical support, building resilience, and moving forward. No two families’ experiences are the same, and neither is the support they need. Currently they are supporting over 1,200 families through their journey with childhood cancer. The Foundation needs to raise $6.5 million each year to continue providing vital support.
Life challenges come in many different forms, but these challenges are far more manageable by having help and support. All of the money received through this page will be going to the ‘Child Cancer Foundation'.
Special thanks must go to Thomsons ITM Building Supplies our key Sponsor, friends and family for their help and support over the many months of preparation and training.
