Participating in FFC ride for Kidscan
Nationwide
Right now in New Zealand, around 157,000 children live in material hardship, going to school hungry, cold, or unwell. It’s tough to learn when you’re just trying to get through the day. KidsCan is levelling the playing field by providing food, shoes, rain jackets, and health products so kids can focus on learning, not just surviving.
Ten years ago, the Fat Fathers Cycling Crew (FFC) rode from Christchurch to Queenstown and raised $170,000, helping KidsCan support 800 more children across four new schools.
Now we’re back for round two. In November 2026, we’ll ride 1,000 km, climb 14,000 metres, and finish with the Taupō Round the Lake Challenge. This time, we’re aiming even higher, $200,000 to help 1,000 Kiwi kids.
Every dollar you give fuels the ride and changes a child’s life. All riders are self-funding costs, so every cent raised goes directly to KidsCan.
For me, this ride is deeply personal. After 24 years in the New Zealand Police, I’ve seen how hardship shapes young lives, homes without enough food, kids at school tired, hungry, or without proper clothing. Poverty limits opportunity, confidence, and hope.
This ride isn’t just about distance or endurance, it’s about doing something real. It’s a privilege to turn my passion for cycling into a force for good. By supporting FFC and KidsCan, you’re helping level the playing field for Kiwi kids, giving them the basics they need to learn and thrive.
Thank you for backing the ride and believing in the potential of every child.
We’re riding to raise money for Kidscan and help kiwi kids to learn with food in tummies, shoes on feet, and rain jackets to stay dry.
