Raising funds to bring a little joy & comfort to women who are victims of domestic violence, during my journey towards running 100 miles.
Auckland
I’ve been running ultramarathons for a few years now, and am ready to tackle my ultimate distance... 100 miles!
To keep myself motivated and inspired, I’ve chosen to run and raise money for my beautiful friend Becky’s amazing charity - Kia Kaha Box.
Latest statistics show that on average, every night, 201 women and children needed a safe space to sleep, as one in three women in New Zealand will experience domestic violence and abuse, causing many of them to have to flee their homes for the safety of both them and their children.
Majority of these women would have left everything behind; they won’t have any home comforts or anything that is theirs.
The Kia Kaha Box has been designed to bring a little bit of joy back with an added bit of love and happiness, with gift boxes being distributed around safe houses and refuge’s in New Zealand.
No women should feel unsafe, ever! I want to use my training to raise money & visibility for this important cause.
