Kia ora e te whanau!

Thank you for your time to come check out our Givealittle page, we very much appreciate it . We are a group of tamariki/children and kaiako/teachers who are part of a program called Kurawaka at TKKM o te Kotuku in Ranui . Kurawaka is a art animation program our kura started late last year. Our program is about the nurturing and up skilling of young artistic talent by teaching professional animation skills to our young tamariki. We hope to provide them with a future in a growing global industry. The course is delivered beginning with the building of a firm grounding in basic drawing, drafting and animation skills and techniques. It combines, study and practical training, within a “real world” context. Students learn to conceptualise and develop their own animated short film; one of which will be selected to be produced as a fully finished animated short film. The produced piece will be submitted to various animated film festivals around the world, including the Annecy Animation Festival, NY Children’s Festival, Seoul Cartoon & Animation Festival, etc... Not only will our young budding animators have their talent and skills exposed to an international market, we intend to spotlight tikanga Maori on the global arts stage! Some of our students, now, have been given an awesome oppurtunity to go to LA studio's to submit our idea for our 1st animated film which they are currently working on, and also get to visit some of the studios and meet some great animation artists of the world. We will be travelling in December this year 2016. We are still in the process of fundraising and are now asking for donations to help get our tamariki there! and hopefully open some more doors for them within this industry. If you could in anyway help towards this awesome kaupapa we would be truly grateful whanau!
