Fundraising for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Christchurch
Canterbury
May I introduce you to “The Big jump'!
I am doing a fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters which is a mentoring programme for our youth which I have been closely involved with for 9 years.
With Covid plaguing the world, BBBS CHCH have had to either cancel most events and fundraisers over the past two years, or have seriously restricted numbers attending. So they are giving “The Big Jump” a shot to raise some well needed funding for 2022.
I have been a part of this well-deserved world-wide organisation for several years and it has delivered on the concept, programmes, and mentoring of these young people to provide their lives with some stability and direction.
Jimmy, my mentee, is now 18 years old and I started with him when he was only 9. He’s now holding down a job and living successfully in our community. Jimmy is a pleasant young man and I have had the good fortune to be in his life. We now consider Jimmy as part of our extended family.
Yip, we are asking for donations! There are many, many worthwhile organisations asking for money but this is one I am involved with so I am participating in this fundraiser and reaching out to you in the hope you will once again be able to support BBBS.
The way it works is that If I raise $600 for the organisation then we get a free Bungy Jump. Therefore if I reach the target, I get to throw Jimmy off the bridge!
I personally appreciate that you have even taken the time to read the above.
