  Canterbury Family Support

Our primary goal is to build resilience into young people and provide opportunities and experiences for them - so that they may reach their potential!

We do this by providing a free mentoring programme for at risk and disadvantaged young people by recruiting adult mentor volunteers from the community.

Each mentor is matched with a young person and they will spend an hour a week together for a minimum of one year.

Together they will engage in a variety of activities together from baking to cycling, from craft projects to building model planes, meanwhile building a positive relationship that builds the young person confidence.

Our staff provide the necessary accountability and support for the special people who offer their time to build up and support a young person.

More about us

The goal of Big Brothers Big Sisters is that we want every child to thrive, despite what their background or family situation throws at them.

There are thousands of young people who are missing out because of the lack of positive adult role models in their lives.

Our adult mentors are equipped with adequate tools to assure they are able to go the distance with their young person and feel competent in facing issues that may arise in the course of their mentoring relationship.

Quality training, support and supervision is one of the most vital components in assuring the success and longevity of a mentoring match.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters team are dedicated to providing ongoing high quality training for its mentors.

Your donation would enable us to continue to develop our training material, offer new training opportunities and ultimately allow us to be able to provide quality mentors to the vulnerable young people referred to our programme.
