I'm running the Queenstown Marathon to raise $5,000 for the Champion Centre, supporting kids like my sister with cerebral palsy. Donate!
Christchurch, Canterbury
To most of you reading this, you likely know me and my family, and if you know my family, you know my eldest sister, Sarah. Sarah is nine years older than me and balances being both the big, bossy sister and the little sister I love to read Paddington books to and watch Winnie the Pooh with.
If you’ve met Sarah, you know she radiates joy, with a grin that stretches from one cheek to the other and gives the best hugs. Sarah was born with cerebral palsy, a condition that affects everyone differently. She’s been fortunate in many ways—she can walk, eat independently, and has an unexpectedly sharp wit. But none of this has come easily to her or my parents.
When Sarah’s cerebral palsy was diagnosed, it was devastating for my parents. Thankfully, they were referred to the Christchurch-based Champion Centre, which became a lifeline for Sarah and my parents. The Centre provides early intervention services to young children with conditions like cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, prematurity, and more, offering practical and emotional support for families like ours.
Like many crucial services, the Champion Centre is only partially government-funded and relies on donations. That’s why I’ve decided to run the Queenstown Marathon this November to raise $5,000 for them. I hope you’ll support me in this effort. Every contribution will help ensure this amazing organisation can continue its life-changing work. Together, we can reach the goal!
