Running the London Marathon 2021 raising money for Alzheimer's Society and Alzheimers New Zealand
Hawke's Bay
Running has never been a love of mine. It usually brings back memories of dreaded school cross country which I hated with a passion! So that's why it is so crazy to say that I have been incredibly lucky to gain a spot in the LONDON MARATHON (!!) this year.
I had a thought about running a marathon last year but Covid put a hold on that and I lost all motivation with no goal to look forward to. So that's why I decided to put my name in the ballot for the London Marathon this year!
Training will be a massive challenge, harder physically than anything I have ever done. But I am so ready for it!
Choosing a charity to run for was difficult with so many amazing charities to choose from, so I have chosen one of the many that are personal to me - Alzheimer's Society.
People facing Alzheimer’s and dementia have a far bigger challenge. Most of us know and love someone who is currently battling this truly heart-breaking disease, a disease that affects not only the person with it, but also their entire family and circle of friends.
We can fight this disease – new drugs and treatments are being developed all the time – and if we all join in the fight we will win the battle sooner.
I am going to use my spot in the London Marathon to fundraise for the Alzheimer’s Societies in the UK and in New Zealand. Any money raised stays in the country in which it was given, so there are two links below. Please, please consider supporting this cause. Every little bit helps and no amount is too small (or too large!) so if you are in a position to spare something I would be so incredibly grateful.
Thanks so much for reading this xo

Alzheimer's is often an overlooked topic of conversation but the disease affects so many people worldwide. I am raising money to help further research and to hopefully get more people involved and talking about this heartbreaking disease.
