Shaving our hair to raise funds for Cancer research and support
Auckland
What's happening?
Claire, Vanessa & Danielle - and now Katie too! - are shaving their hair off!
Why?
It started as a casual suggestion and has turned into a commitment.
There are so many people affected by cancer each year. Most people have a family member - a grandparent, parent, sibling, partner, or a colleague, or a friend, for whom cancer has touched. Some of these people are still here today, to be able to talk about the fear, the challenge, the cost, and the impact on their lives. Some people are not, and it's not always easy to think about people we knew whose lives were cut short as a result of cancer.
We feel passionate about doing something small to try and encourage people to donate money towards these worthy causes. We're trying to raise $10,000 to support two amazing organisations.
These are
- the Cancer Society - who undertake cancer research
- the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation - who support people living with cancer and their families
(funds raised will be split 50/50 between each charity)
You are welcome to come and watch the big shave at the Northcote Tavern on Sunday 29 March, 3pm.
Thanks in advance for your support,
Vanessa Jones, Claire Davy, Danielle Harris & Katie Searle
All three of us wanted to do something to help cancer research and support to those going through a difficult time with cancer. If we can do our small part to help these charities, it will be worth a chilly head!
$20,000 🥳🥳🥳🥳 26 March 2020
✨ Four very happy and grateful bald heads now want to say THANK YOU - thank you so much to everyone who contributed. With over 300 donors and now having hit our stretch goal, we’re thrilled to be sending this off to our charities next week.
The fundraiser is open until Tuesday - givealittle take a fee - so anything extra will still be helping us give a full $10k to our charities.
Thank you all again! ❤️
Sending our best wishes and love to you all,
Claire, Vanessa, Katie & Danielle #quadbaldies 👩🏻🦲👩🏻🦲👩🏻🦲👩🏻🦲
