Running the Rotorua marathon to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease which my mother has and funds for Parkinson's New Zealand
Bay of Plenty
Marathon for Mum
My mother has Parkinsons disease, she was diagnosed about 10 years ago.
My Mother has, up until then led an active life and participated in many sports, and leisure activities, being involved in golf and bowling club administration and as golf club captain at one stage. She has worked hard on the farm when younger and worked hard to do her best to raise a family of four kids.
It has been difficult to watch the disease progress and I found myself feeling frustrated at not being able to do much about it except for helping out and supporting her.
So, I have decided to attempt to complete the Rotorua Marathon which is in May to help raise awareness and hopefully some funds for Parkinson’s New Zealand.
This is 42 Km event that I have never attempted before, so will be a big challenge for me.
So if you could help by donating to my Give a Little page, and maybe even support with training I would appreciate it very much.

Firstly, thank you to those that have generously made a donation. It's awesome. To those still wanting to there is still time.
As far as my preparation is concerned, it has been alright. I have recently done a couple of runs over 30 km, one of 35km, so that is good. I have had a few obstacles to overcome along the way, mostly injuries and at times just plain worn out ( I have been training since September). I feel it good nick now so just have to get to the start line now without doing anything silly. I am pretty confident that I can complete the run now, it will just take me quite awhile at my old man shuffle pace.
Cheers Robert 🏃♂️
Cheers Chris, we appreciate it 🙂
