Helping those in need of some support at a trying time and giving back to a worthy cause.
Otago
Hi, I'm Campbell a local guy in Dunedin who is running the Dunedin marathon in September to help raise funds for the Neonatal Trust.
Last year in January my wife and I gave birth to a 28 week baby boy here in Dunedin. Being 12 weeks early, we spent 2 and a half months in NICU and along with the help from the NICU and hospital staff and the Neonatal Trust we received a great amount of support and encouragement.
The Neonatal Trust were excellent with the support they offered and sent us care packs full of useful items and vouchers.
As a way of thanking them for this support at such a trying time in our lives, I have decided to help raise funds by running the marathon (which is my first) and getting sponsored by various people and businesses around Dunedin and New Zealand including my workplace (Aotea Electric) and the trust. I have a goal of finishing in under 4 hours and I am confident that I will.
I would love to raise as much as possible and look forward to the challenge on the day!
Thank you for your support, any amount donated helps.
Cheers, Campbell
As a father of a premature son, the Neonatal Trust helped me and my family through a tough time in our lives. I am helping to raise funds by running the Dunedin marathon in September, help me help others at a trying time in people's lives!
Update 1 24 June 2018
From The Neonatal Trust:
It's quite apt that Campbell will be running the marathon in early September, as this will be just after The Neonatal Trust provides a 'Pick-me-up' pack for every Dad with a baby in the Dunedin NICU on this special day.
This will include some items to brighten their day along with printed support material including our 'Tips for Dads' - written with the help of Dads who have been there.
Examples of the support material provided by The Neonatal Trust can be seen here: www.neonataltrust.org.nz/support
