Marathon for a superdog - Harbour Capital Marathon

Hey guys, When walking the dogs on Saturday I slipped and fell awkwardly, twisting my knee.? I don't think I've injured it badly, but it is still painful four days later, and with the marathon on Sunday, I'm not sure if I'll be able to run it without putting myself at risk of an even more serious injury. So, I've decided that I'll either walk this one (depending on how I feel closer to the time) or not do it, but I will?run the 5 Bridges Marathon on 18th July instead. http://capitalmultisportsrunwalks.co.nz/default. http://capitalmultisportsrunwalks.co.nz/default. Absolutely ironic - I took the weekend off army training so that I wouldn't get sick / injured before the marathon, and then go and hurt myself anyway.? The limp has gone, but it's still painful and I'm having trouble with steps and downhill slopes, so a 42km run in four days seems a bit of an unrealistic goal right now? :( Thank you again for all of you who have pitched in; this postponement?was not an easy decision to make, but I hope you understand! Arohanui? xxx

Lizzy and me did some running on sunny Saturday - the most beautiful day of the long weekend.? Island Bay - Houghton Bay - Lyall Bay - Tarakena Bay (where we planted three trees) - Breaker Bay - Seatoun - Karaka Bay - Scorching Bay (where we had a latte and a cheese scone, despite the scornful looks the old ladies at the table next to us were giving) - Maupuia - Army Base - Shelly Bay - Kilbirnie - Newtown - Island Bay.? About 35km all up, I think.? Pretty sore on Sunday, but feeling good!? Not a bad run, considering my music ran out at Seatoun.? Lizzy had a few swims in the sea, and it was the most lovely view the whole way around.? Can't wait for the real one!

Yikes!? Winter!? Ok, so a run in the morning with the dogs, then a run to work, and then an RFL run (for you non-army pers that's 2.4km as fast as you can) - I got 10:40, not bad considering it was straight off the back of 10km straight. I'd kill for a massage ... ! Remember, be fire safe out there guys with your heaters and stuff - unattended heaters can cause fires? :( Rock on guys and thank you for your support!? Still waiting on suggestions for albums to download for the run.

I'm off to play soldier for ten days tonight, I'm going to be cold and wet, but my heart is warm when I think of all you awesome people who have pitched in for Qannik's operation. I spoke to her Dad yesterday and he is overwhelmed with the amount of aroha he and Qannik have been getting over the last few weeks.? The vets think that the earliest they should operate on her is when she's 18 months old (to ensure she's fully grown.)? She's 13 months now, so that gives him another five months to save up.? :) Thank you again to all of you - your attitude helps make this world a better place xxx

Lizzy and I are taking on Wellington in the mornings: I clip her lead to my camelback and she helps me up the hills? :)? Did 10km on Saturday and didn't hurt on Sunday, so have a good feeling about this!
