Operation Qannik. Dog saved owner's life from a house fire. Dog has hip dysplasia. Dog needs operation. Operation costs $20G. I want dog to get operation. I will put myself through hell (42km run) to get money for dog's operation...

Raising funds for Qannik, a 12 month old Alaskan Malamute in Ashburton. This superdog saved her owner from a house fire, but later was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. Her only real option for a full life is to have her left and right hips replaced at a cost of $20,000. http://bradmacdonald.co.nz/ http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/3673202/Best-friend-in-need

Update for 23/06/2010  23 June 2010

Hey guys, When walking the dogs on Saturday I slipped and fell awkwardly, twisting my knee.? I don't think I've injured it badly, but it is still painful four days later, and with the marathon on Sunday, I'm not sure if I'll be able to run it without putting myself at risk of an even more serious injury. So, I've decided that I'll either walk this one (depending on how I feel closer to the time) or not do it, but I will?run the 5 Bridges Marathon on 18th July instead. http://capitalmultisportsrunwalks.co.nz/default. http://capitalmultisportsrunwalks.co.nz/default. Absolutely ironic - I took the weekend off army training so that I wouldn't get sick / injured before the marathon, and then go and hurt myself anyway.? The limp has gone, but it's still painful and I'm having trouble with steps and downhill slopes, so a 42km run in four days seems a bit of an unrealistic goal right now? :( Thank you again for all of you who have pitched in; this postponement?was not an easy decision to make, but I hope you understand! Arohanui? xxx

Happy to see you've reached your goal and to hear that Qannilk may be able to get her op at a better rate. With a bit longer to run the marathon you might be able to raise a bit more than your goal!
