Participating in Yarn Bombing for a Cause
Greerton, Tauranga
For the last several months I have been knitting away at my yarn bomb project. I love being involved in this event that brings bright and cheery colours to our wintery streets.
This year I have been inspired by the calming colours of our moana, sea/ocean/lake, the whenua, land and the tāepaepatanga o te rangi, horizon that stretch around Aotearoa.
It will be installed on a tree along with all the other amazing projects on July 2nd in Greeton Village, Tauranga.
My husband and I both work in civil construction and many of our whānau and friends are connected to the industry as well. I would like my mahi to bring awareness to the important work of Mates in Construction. The MATES program builds and strengthens workplace communities by supporting people within the industry to provide an environment that encourages positive wellbeing.
The MATES website states that our Construction industry loses nearly one person per week to suicide. 98% of those losses are our Fathers, Brothers, Husbands or Sons
I am very grateful to those who are inspired by my efforts and can make a donation to support this cause.
