Maya's birthday gift to the babies and families at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Wellington Hospital in New Zealand
Wellington
Our daughter Maya was born as a healthy and happy baby on 18 Sept 2017 at the Wellington Hospital, New Zealand. Soon after birth, Maya spent a wee bit of time at the neonatal unit just to be given antibiotics as she had passed meconium while still in Julie's womb, just before birth. While we were at the neonatal unit, we witnessed and were moved by the crucial work that is going on at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and by the Neonatal Trust at the Wellington Hospital. While we celebrate Maya's good health and growth, we wish to contribute to NICU, in our little ways, through the Neonatal Trust.
As Maya turns one year old on 18 September this year, we want her to learn to give, and not just always receive. We feel this is particularly important in our current age as many of us seem to have developed a misplaced sense of entitlement. We hope to continue this for every of Maya's subsequent birthdays, hoping that she will grow up to be a compassionate and caring citizen.
We have set up this fundraiser on behalf of Maya with hopes that it might benefit other babies and families through the Neonatal Trust at the Wellington Hospital in New Zealand.
