Michael is a partner at Polson Higgs Business Advisors responsible for the Tax division and has been involved in providing specialist tax advice to corporates and Small to Medium sized Enterprise (SME), together with advice to accountants and lawyers since 1992. He has also been involved in authoring and presenting a large number of tax courses as well as being a regular speaker at conferences.

Michael joined the CAANZ National Tax Advisory Group in January 2006, and has served on the Otago Branch of CAANZ, and was chair in 2006/2007. His contributions to the accounting profession were recognised in 2009 where he was made a Fellow of the College of Chartered Accountants.

He joined the board of the Otago Southland Employers Association in 2013 and is on the advisory council at Toroa College, an Otago University College.

His interests, when time allows, include hunting, scuba diving, mountain biking, skiing and travel.

On the morning of the 2nd June I'll be abseiling from the roof of Forsyth Barr Stadium 35 metres to the pitch below, fundraising for the Malcam Charitable Trust. All funds raised will go towards providing the youth of Otago experiences that enable them to discover who they are, and where they fit in.
