CANCER SOCIETY RELAY FOR LIFE 2012 31st March 4pm - 9am 1 April 2012 ""the Midazzers - Warriors for our loved ones"" Cancer Society Wellington have provided our family and friends with amazing support by way of information, support services, and car park facilities - which I have definitely utilised particularly over the last 2 years. This is a great opportunity for our family and friends to give back to Cancer Society who are, and continue to be, a truly amazing source of support for so many others. ? DONATE OR SPONSOR: We would love your support as our team embark on a 17-hour-nonstop walkathon (no doubt our fitness fanatic team members will be running!!). We are trying to raise as much money for Cancer Society Wellington as possible.? Please scroll down the page to FIND OUT HOW TO DONATE/SPONSOR. ? OUR TEAM NAME: Our team name ""the Midazzers"" is in honour of Paul Churchward (1962-2011), and our slogan ""Warriors for our loved ones"" is dedicated to all of those who have been touched by, or fighting against, Cancer. Our team name 'Midazzers' is derived from the word Midazolam which a powerful drug used for pain relief. Our name?and slogan is used with sincerity and projects positive vibes. ? OUR TEAM We have loads of team members who will be participating at different times during the 17 hours, we have two nieces coming from Sydney especially for the event. Our two co-captains, Karlos and Hayley, are survivors of Cancer themselves. ? CARERS/SURVIVORS are the VIPs at Relay for Life We love it that the survivors and carers are the VIPs at Relay and on the day there are activities especially for them! There are several ways in which Cancer Society Relay for Life acknowledge the survivors and carers: afternoon tea at 2.30pm-3.30pm; lap of honour at 3.30pm; celebratory hour at 6.30pm. You donft have to be a participant at Relay for Life to be at the activities, please spread the word to any survivors/carers to come and join us. ? CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY BAGS $5 At dusk a Candlelight Ceremony is held. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and to show our support for those living with cancer. Candle bags inscribed with personal messages are placed around the track. As they burn throughout the night, they emit a warm glow from the candles placed inside. Bags are available from Cancer Society or we can get one for you to decorate when then we can take to the ceremony. Thank you so much, I hope you follow our progress. If you would like to know more about the event, our team, or fundraising events please let us?know.
