I'm raising money to cut my hair off for charity, and then donate the hair for a wig. If you're local and donate the most, you can cut it

Mum's story
My life was full: active, busy, and fulfilling. But gradually it became obvious that I was losing stamina, strength and energy. Blood tests showed Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, which I had possibly had for some time.
The impact on our lives was huge.
My work suggested I find employment somewhere else; it was devastating.
I lost my income, sense of purpose, friends and confidence. I lost my lifestyle and didn't really know who I was now.
I concentrated on what I did have instead: time, and lots of it! I volunteered in a Charity Shop, spent time with those unable to get out and about, and took up new hobbies.
I learned how to pace myself & conserve energy to get through the days.
Five years on it became necessary to have Chemo to keep the leukaemia in check with an excellent outcome although a severely compromised immune system so, I need to avoid large crowds where I might contract infections, and to avoid exhausting myself. I am never without a mask - I am not sure anyone would recognise me now without one!
I am incredibly thankful for my family who are always there for me. Our children put together a 'love package' after each round of Chemo, a blessing to me even today.
I'm thankful to all who have helped me to stay strong; Church, exercise groups, Support Groups, Medical Staff helping me to trust the process and keep looking ahead, putting aside the immaterial and concentrating on what is important; appreciating the moment, celebrating the good things. Life is good :)
