We're fundraising to support healthcare training in Malawi through Medic to Medic.

Kia ora friends and whānau,
As part of our final year of medical school, we get the opportunity to do a 6-week medical elective; in a month, we are heading to Malawi, an experience we're incredibly excited (and a little nervous!) about.
Malawi is a landlocked country in Sub-Saharan Africa, where the health system faces significant challenges, including limited resources, infrastructure, and access to care. These challenges are reflected in the health of the population, as there are relatively high child and adult mortality rates and a high burden of communicable diseases, including tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV/AIDS.
We'll be completing our elective through an amazing charity, Medic to Medic, which supports the training of healthcare workers in Malawi, particularly students from rural backgrounds and women, who are underrepresented in the health workforce. Their work focuses on creating long-term, sustainable change by investing in people.
As part of this experience, Georgia and I will also be taking on the Medic to Medic Charity Half Marathon when we arrive. We’ve been training here in NZ, but it will definitely be a new challenge running in Africa!
If you’d like to support us, we would be so grateful for any donations. All funds go directly to Medic to Medic to help continue their work supporting future healthcare workers in Malawi.
Thank you so much for your support, and we promise to share parts of our adventures with you all.
Lily and Georgia 🤍
