Fundraising for The Little Miracles Trust
Nationwide
In April I’m setting off to walk the Camino de Santiago, an 800km pilgrimage across France and Spain, before heading down to Portugal. All going to plan, this should take me around 2 months, covering 1000km on foot ... an epic adventure across the Iberian Peninsula!
They say that miracles happen all the time on the Camino. So, as part of this adventure, I am fundraising for the Little Miracles Trust, a charity that supports the families of premature babies - the most powerful miracles of all. Around 1 in 10 Kiwi babies spend time in a NICU or SCBU - that's over 5,800 little Kiwis every year.
This is a charity that is very close to my heart, and I've seen its incredible impact as a volunteer during my studies at the University of Otago. A long time ago, two of my best friends spent time in a NICU, so I am incredibly grateful for the support the Trust was able to provide.
Please join me on this adventure and help turn every step of the Camino into support for the Little Miracles Trust! Anything you are able to donate is greatly appreciated.
Update from Olivia 7 May 2026
I am on day 20 of walking, and have so far covered around 480km! There is 300 or so km to go to Santiago, and then another 200 and a bit more to finish in Porto. While there have been many ups and downs on the journey so far (definitely more ups than downs of course!), it has been an incredibly eye-opening experience and I have met so many wonderful and inspiring people. Each town is unique and there is always something interesting to see and talk about each day.
