Shaving the lid!

2016 was a pretty shocking year for our family, losing a number of family members and friends mainly to cancer.

I know its a terrible time of year to ask people to donate money with Christmas and holidays only just over but I've been chatting about shaving my head for a while now so I thought it was high time I stopped procrastinating and get on and do it and try to raise some money in the process. Although it must be said that I'm decidedly nervous about the whole thing - its amazing how much you think your hair defines who you are.

I wanted to raise money for a charity that helps adults that have found themselves as carers for a terminally ill spouse or family member. Over the last year I've realised how much this takes, emotionally and physically... I struggled to find a local charity that actually does this. However Canterbury Charity Hospital ticked most of the boxes...

The Canterbury Charity Hospital was established by a trust in 2004 to provide FREE elective day surgery and medical outpatient clinics including for those in our Canterbury community who can’t access these services because they:

Don’t qualify for the public health waiting list

Don’t have medical insurance and

Don’t have any other means of covering the cost of their treatment.

As part of the Hospital Trust's services they offer free counselling for adults... a vitally important service not only for people dealing with terminal illnesses.

I'd love you to help me raise some money to support this awesome charity that costs over $15,000 a week to run and relies almost entirely on donations from the public.
