Breast cancer is an incidious disease that impacts the lives of many women, definitely not just those over 45! Check your boobies regularly!
Wellington
I am fundraising for the Breast Cancer Cure because yet again someone close to me has been inflicted by the incidious disease. Today, I found out that Paula Lines, my best friend of over 30 years has been diagnosed with breast cancer and went under the knife for a partial mastectomy on the same day that her mother Trish started chemotheraphy for breast cancer.
Paula will fight this, and I have no doubt her determination, grit and strong will help her to 'Kick that rust in the arse' (to quote my cousin who lost her sister to the disease).
I live too far away to be a practical help, but I hope that by fundraising for Breast Cancer Cure I can raise awareness, raise funds for critical medical research, and remind everyone I love to 'check their boobies'.
In 10 days (on Saturday 21 March) I am running the Ring of Fire ultra with my husband Mason. He is running from Chateau Tongariro to the Turoa Mountain Rd (24km super technical) and I'm running around the south and west sides of Ruapehu back to Chateau Tongariro via Tukino ski field (48km with some never-ending valleys). When it gets tough I'll be thinking of Paula and her mum to keep me going, and it'll also really help if I know that others have put funds towards this critical cause.
The fundraising will be open until Tuesday 31 March. Hopefully we can raise a good amount of money by then. Thanks for your support
I believe that working to find a cure for Breast Cancer is a critical and worthy cause. It's a disease that has inflicted too many people I love.
