Fundraising for Diabetes NZ
Wellington
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes a little over three years ago. Life switched to hard mode.
Type 1 Diabetes challenges me physically and mentally everyday, it is a relentless disease.
I cope by challenging it back.
On 11 November 2023 I will be taking part in a 16km trail run at ‘The Taniwha’. This will test my diabetes management as well as my physical and mental endurance.
November is Diabetes Awareness Month.
I see this as an opportunity to spread awareness and raise a few bucks for the hardworking organisation whose aim it is to help me and the diabetes community. Any donation, large or small would be so gratefully appreciated.
Help me live well. Help others like me live well.
The Taniwha 16km trail run - completed! 13 November 2023
Hey Team! Firstly I want to thank you all for your support and your very generous donations! $750 is massive - thank you all SO much ❤️.
On Saturday I completed The Taniwha. A huge goal which I feel so proud to have accomplished.
I am stoked with the awareness I was able to generate for Type 1 Diabetes at the event. The MC was amazing and helped me bring attention to my cause with interviews and shout outs throughout the day. We talked about the challenges faced and the work that Diabetes NZ are doing to advocate for our community.
I was approached by many people affected by Type 1 Diabetes, mostly the parents of children and young people managing life alongside the disease.
Thank you also to the running community who were so supportive, I felt welcomed and safe during my run.
Thank you again for your support - you are all amazing 🤩
