Insulin is not a cure

$50 of $500 goal
Given by 4 generous donors in 4 weeks

It's so great you're here! Please help me reach my goal of raising $500 towards SCNZ's #givingtuesday campaign November 2016.

Northland

I often witness the unrelenting multiple daily finger pricks and insulin injections of people that I love. This rigour helps someone with type 1 to stay alive and to manage this condition as best they can. I know there must be a better way. While people with type 1 are brave and get on with living life to the full, they have no break ever, and are constantly on alert to try and keep their blood sugar in a normal range. They live with the side effects of the treatment, as well as (sadly) some misconceptions from people who don't understand the disease, and the constant shadow of possible complications. They really need excellent research to help put pay to this constant burden.

Claire Paget-Hay's involvement (page creator)

I have a child and friends who have type 1 diabetes. No-one else in our family has type 1, although other members have autoimmune conditions which can be debilitating. Diet does not cure autoimmunity and poor diet did not cause it. I have been following research publications on autoimmunity from around the world for the past 8 years and am passionate about the research being done in NZ by SCNZ to help cure autoimmune disease, and ultimately spinal cord injuries.
