NZ Summers are hot, but this winter in Ukraine could be a freezing crisis

21km seemed like a very long way to run a few months ago, but with the Auckland Half Marathon coming up on 1 November, I wanted to make all the training REALLY worth while.

I've watched the invasion of Ukraine closely since 2022 and each winter, more and more Ukrainians are having to deal with loosing power and water. Russian jet-powered drones are daily targeting civilian areas, power plants and water plants. This December through March 2027 is likely to turn into a serious humanitarian crisis as this is clearly a deliberate terror strategy to try and make cities uninhabitable during the very cold winters most of us can't even imagine here in NZ.

Kiwi K.A.R.E Ukraine (https://www.kiwikareukraine.co.nz) are an incredible organization representing NZ to people in need and are seriously doing NZ proud. Along with providing Ambulances and working with local groups to evacuate civilians from incredibly dangerous front-line areas, they are working to fund the construction of recycled water cylinders into mini portable boilers to provide essential heat and hot water in -20 degree winters for families that are increasingly struggling to get power each day.

It's the No. 8 wire attitude on the other side of the world!

The Ukrainian people have been incredibly resilient, enduring daily ballistic missile attacks, FPV drone hunting 'human safari's', but they do need our help to get through this winter and I'd love you to join me in this.
