Help us get to India!
Queenstown, Otago
A team of 8 Youth Ambassadors along with the Director of Open Home Foundation International (OHFI) are headed to Kolkata and Manipur, India in February. The purpose behind this trip is to create happiness and joy for the children in Kolkata, and to foster long-lasting relationships with the communities we visit. The Ambassadors intend to share these stories and experiences to create a lasting impact as an active voice for OHFI.
OHFI is a New Zealand-based organisation working with people committed to the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of vulnerable children. It functions on a self-sufficient model, resulting in a greater reach to vulnerable children. Ultimately the focus is to help communities create self-sustaining benefits. OHFI is present in impoverished communities and cares for 20,000 vulnerable children in Zambia, Rwanda, Uganda, India, Peru, and Romania.
In India, OHFI provides not only the basics (like food, water and community facilities), but also offers child care and protection, healthcare clinics, tuition centres and schools, social work training and life skills training. OHFI empowers communities through crop farming projects, work skill training and livestock projects.
I am a new member of the OHFI Family as a Youth Ambassador. My Dad, Grant Brenton, has been Chairperson on the Organization's Board for nearly a decade.
