Backyard ultramarathon in memory of Dad. Fundraising for the Canterbury Charity Hospital
Christchurch, Canterbury
Hi! I’m doing a backyard ultramarathon in just under 2 weeks and very on brand at late notice have decided to try and raise a little money for an important cause
A BYU is a last man standing ultramarathon, where you run a 6.7km loop, on the hour, every hour, until you can’t!
I signed up to this event after my Dad passed away last year in the spirit of resilience and getting through hard things.
I’m hoping to raise some money for the Charity Hospital my Dad managed - The Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust. The CCHT is run entirely on donations and almost entirely on volunteers. They provide FREE medical, surgical and dental procedures to people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to this care through the public system in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand.
Currently, construction is well underway for a new building in the hospital compound which will provide training & further services, and is set to open later this year.
Any donations, large or small would be hugely appreciated!
As this will be my first ever running event, (skipping the half/full marathon & going straight to an ultramarathon) wish me luck!
