I am running the Auckland Waterfront half marathon to fund-raise for an incredible organisation called Youth Horizons.
Auckland
Kia ora everyone,
As most of you are aware I was honoured to complete my first placement at an organisation called Youth Horizons a national charitable trust working to improve the lives of children and young people who are dealing with behavioural, emotional, mental health or development issues.
This was my first real glimpse into the social work profession and it's fair to say that it pushed me out of my comfort zone, exposed me to a variety of different cultures and situations and made it very clear that this is a profession that I am going to thrive in.
Youth Horizons has had an incredible impact on me and the work each and every person undertakes is beyond. Therefore, I felt it was very fitting to run the Auckland Waterfront half marathon not only for myself but to raise funds for our rangatahi. This is your chance to make a difference for these young people whether it is giving up your coffee for the day or if you're feeling generous throwing your life savings in! No matter what, every little bit donated helps Youth Horizons to support young people dealing with complex behavior, mental health and conduct problems as they work to turn their lives around and I have seen first hand how hard these young people work!
If you want to know more about Youth Horizons then click on the link below, or even better you might no someone who would make an amazing caregiver for our young people!
Tēnā koutou,
Rosana
