Wow, it's getting very close now!!
The roster is filling up. Reach out ASAP if you want to join me for an hour or so on the Zig Zag.
Tough challenge for a very worthy cause. Come join the 'fun'
Well, where do I start? I spent last Saturday on the Zig Zag. I was really lucky to have great support from friends and club mates join me throughout the day. I didn't have to run alone all day which was great to keep the mind occupied.
I kept to me plan on 'slow and steady' for the whole day. Walking the ups and jogging the downs.
I ended up doing 98 laps, travelling 73km and climbing 2,674m.
Finished the 12 hours feeling like I had plenty more in reserve.
Come March I will need to do a little bit more than three times what I did last weekend so it's great to know I had lots more in the tank.
If you want to help me during the challenge with crew support or maybe even joining me for a lap or ten then please reach out.
I'm planning a day on The Zig Zag this Saturday (13th Jan).
Main goal will be to walk up and jog down to see how much ground I can cover in 12 hours.
Ideally I will have some people join me for
half an hour or an hour throughout the day.
Please get in touch if you are keen to help so I can find a time slot for you.
I'll bring snacks and drinks.
Aiming to be going from 6am to 6pm and it will be much easier with company🤞
Thanks,
Paul
What a cool day training for my Everest Challenge. Morning yoga, bouldering session with the brat-pack, then a few hours chasing a little vert on The Pipe..oh, and a day trip to chch as well to get the last two activities done ✔️
So, this weekend I'm heading off to Dunedin for a training run that is going to push me and the other competitors to the limits. The Crush the Cargill 24 hour Challenge has been going for a while now. This year the event (dis)organizers have decided to make it even more epic by creating the 36 hour 100 mile event. We are lucky enough to start 12 hours earlier than the 24 hour Challenge people with the goal of 19 summits in a 36 hour period. I have 'ran' this distance before but have never done this much vert (over 10,000m) in one go. It will be a great training run and an awesome weekend sharing the trail with like minded people.
This is a grass roots event and no race bibs or timing chips will be in sight so you'll have to watch out on their Facebook page for updates.
Hey everyone,
I'm done a few test laps (38 over four different outings) on the Zig Zag to calibrate. Seems as though I had bad data. The actual elevation of each lap is 23m not 30m as I was led to believe (don't believe everything you read on the internet). That means that I will need to complete 323 laps to get to the Everest goal, yay, more running equals more fun right??
So far I've had some donations coming in and a few people offering support in the day which is great. Just a few months of training that include some big races and I'll be ready to go.
That's a buggar to find out but you will still complete it as your one tough buggar💪
It not a challenge if it's easy Dona 💪
