Pedalling for a Purpose: My Kōpiko Aotearoa Journey for Cure Kids
Kumeu, Auckland
At 62, I’m still chasing adventure, discovering new roads, and finding enormous joy in seeing where two wheels can take me.
This time, I’m taking on Kōpiko Aotearoa — a challenge I’m doing for my own pleasure and satisfaction, but with a much bigger purpose in mind: raising funds for Cure Kids.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to experience the freedom, excitement and happiness that adventure can bring. Every climb, every winding road, every beautiful landscape and every hard-earned kilometre reminds me just how precious it is to be healthy enough to get out there and enjoy life.
But not every child gets that opportunity.
Children facing serious illnesses often have to deal with challenges that no child should have to face. By supporting Cure Kids, I hope I can play a small part in helping fund research and support that gives sick children a better chance of getting well — and, one day, experiencing their own adventures, dreams and moments of pure joy.
So while I’ll be riding for the challenge, the scenery and the satisfaction of pushing myself, I’ll also be riding for kids who deserve the chance to discover what life has to offer.
If you’re able to make a donation, no matter how big or small, I’d be incredibly grateful.
I’m riding for the joy of adventure.
I’m fundraising so children can have the chance to experience theirs.
Thank you for getting behind me — and, most importantly, behind Cure Kids.
