Of the 20,000 steam ships built on the Clyde. The Steam Tug Lyttelton is the sole survivor still operational today. Can you help?
Lyttelton, Canterbury
The Steam Tug Lyttelton is the oldest operating salt water steam powered ship anywhere in the world.
It takes a huge amount of money to keep her operating as we do. We raise some funds by our seasonal weekly harbour excursions. But not nearly enough.
Covid restrictions over the last several sailing seasons has hurt our ability to achieve anywhere the number of sailings and passenger numbers we require.
Just the paint for below her water line $8,000.00. $20,000.00 to get that paint onto her hull once we have her in dry dock. And it doesn't end there.
She needs your financial support. Will you help?
