Kia Ora, some of you may know this year I signed up to get amongst a fundraiser supporting The Key to Life Charitable Trust. These cool kids are the people behind I AM HOPE, Gumboot Friday & IT Heavy Hitters and are all about supporting suicide awareness & prevention, and mental health here in NZ.

I’m doing my part by putting both my mind and body to the test, trying something which is completely outside of my comfort zone. (Don’t worry mum my teeth won’t get knocked out!) We have Dan Hooker looking after us and have been training at The Combat Academy in Ellerslie.

There have been moments of tears, frustration, and defeat where I have just wanted to throw in the towel and just give it all up but then I remember the reason that we are all doing this. This struggle is incomparable to that of those living with a black dog and feel as though they have no options. I still have a shit load more to learn, but am lucky enough to have some encouraging and supportive people around me.
