Punching for a purpose :)
Dunedin, Otago
Kia ora whānau this October I’ll be stepping into the ring for Punch With Purpose 7!
10 weeks of taking on a whole lot of stepping outside my comfort zone before fight night at the Dunedin Town Hall on Saturday 17 October.
I signed up because I wanted to challenge myself and see what I’m capable of. While also using that challenge to support two awesome kaupapa: Mitey and Sporting Chance.
Mitey helps tamariki build the skills and confidence to understand and talk about their mental health from a young age. Talking about mental health can be hard, especially within Māori and Pasifika whānau. Our tamariki should grow up knowing it’s okay to kōrero, ask for help and be honest when things aren’t okay.
Sporting Chance helps remove financial barriers so tamariki and rangatahi across Otago can participate in sport. Being active is about so much more than physical health, it can help with confidence, connection, belonging and a place to feel like yourself. Every young person deserves the opportunity to experience that, regardless of their circumstances.
Thanks for getting behind me, whether it’s through a donation, a share or some encouragement along the way.
