Punch With Purpose 6 Charity Fundraiser
Otago
Kia Ora Whānau,
For those who don’t already know, I’ll be stepping into the ring on May 2nd at the Dunedin Town Hall for Punch With Purpose 6 — a charity boxing event.
As part of our training camp, we each chose a charity to support, with all proceeds going toward helping people in need. I’ve chosen Asthma and Respiratory Foundation NZ.
Having grown up with asthma, health issues, and lung problems, it feels right to give back to others who need support like I once did.
From birth until around 17, I struggled heavily with asthma — constant doctor visits, ED trips, and inhalers were just part of life.
Childhood was tough. Struggling to breathe affected my motivation, energy, and overall wellbeing.
Now at 25, I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been — physically and mentally, with no daily inhalers.
From not being able to breathe without medication to stepping into the ring to fight — I already feel like I’m winning at life.
Asthma and respiratory diseases remain among the leading causes of illness and death in NZ:
• 1 in 5 people affected
• 1 in 8 children have asthma
• 3rd most common cause of death
• $8.4B cost to our country each year
