Queenstown Marathon - Pillars

CAT (Clair, Thealyssa, Ashley) here! After running the 10km and half marathon in Tauranga last year, we've decided to do the same in Queenstown for this year! And like last year, we've chosen to use our run to fundraise for a charity. This year, we've gone for a less well known charity, to give some air time to the many smaller charities which do amazing work in our communities.

Pillars is a charity which supports children of prisoners and their whānau/caregivers through mentoring and support programmes. In New Zealand, there are over 23,000 children with a parent in prison - a reality which none of them would have chosen. With children of prisoners being 9 times more likely than other Kiwi kids to end up in prison, Pillars aims to break intergenerational cycles of incarceration through providing children with positive role models and wrap-around services.

We believe that every child deserves the best start in life - and Pillars offers that to some of our most vulnerable. If you're able, we would love it if you could join us in supporting the mahi they do - every bit counts!
