WHY DID WE WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
Rachel:
My hobbies are skating, snowboarding and ice hockey, and this year I will skate competitively for the first time in 18 years. I love seeing new people discover skating during Stars on Ice… and I have always secretly wanted to skate with a fish!
Salmon:
"I have lived in Queenstown on and off for 6 years. Captured by it's beauty and 'awesomeness', who wouldn't want to stay? After many years spent in the social scene of hospitality, I decided to move away from the night owl hours, and onto the social scene of tourism with the Shotover Canyon Swing & Canyon Fox! In my spare time you'll find me DJing around town (still a part time night owl!), going on adventures, trying to avoid fomo, going to the coast for a surf, snowboarding and jumping in our stunningly warm Lake Wakatipu. Ah, I ice skate now too!!"
DESCRIPTION OF QUEENSTOWN ICE ARENA "STARS ON ICE"
The event provides great entertainment for spectators with glitz, glamour, costuming, theming and popular music while supporting a local Club.
This years theme is "Days of Celebration" including music and costumes to support routines for Christmas, New Years Eve, Labour Day, Halloween, wedding day, Valentines Day and more!
Major sponsors of the event are the Queenstown Ice Arena and the Bruce Grant trust as well as the event being proudly supported and included in the programmes for both the Audi Quattro Winter Games and Gay Ski Week - 2 major events showcasing the Queenstown region in August/September.
There are 2 winners for the competition, the People’s Choice Winners - this is the couple who receive the most money raised through the Give A Little website, as well as the Judges Choice - selected on the final night from our panel of judges.
