Raising Money for NZ LandSAR

  • One week later...

      30 November 2020

It's been over a week now since we ran the Queenstown half marathon. It was a very emotional run, mostly because Emma was a constant in my thoughts but also because it was my 10th and in all likelihood my last, and I wasn't sure I was even going to be able to finish it the week before.

But on the day, the weather turned itself around, my running was good until 7km and then I fast walked the rest, finishing at 3hr 15mins. I managed to run the last 300m, sobbing as I crossed the line! As I say, it was emotional. But it was the most beautiful half marathon course and I would recommend to everyone.

So thank you all so much for supporting me and therefore guilting me into running the half ;-)

      Well done Janine!

Thank you very very much for running in honour and memory of Emma and raising money for NZ LandSAR. Love from Hazel (Emma's mum)

Thank you Hazel. Your message means the World to me. I wish I could do more. XX

We are in beautiful Queenstown now, ready for the half marathon tomorrow. Eek!

Thank you all again for your donations, kind words and thoughts! I will keep them in mind as I run/walk what is meant to be one of the most gorgeous marathons ever. X

  • Not long to go now!

      11 November 2020

Thank you all so much again for your generous donations. It means such a lot.

So, 10 days to go before the Queenstown Half - eek! Andy is of course ready and trained to where he wants to be, and I am not...the old niggling knee injury was upstaged by an achilles injury which has prevented me running for a couple of weeks. Thankfully it's just a strained achilles so I am able to still walk. I managed a 15km "ralk" (run/walk) last week so confident I will finish the half as planned, albeit taking a little longer!

  • Thank you!

Thank you so much for viewing this page and for your donations. It's unbelievably generous of you.

For those of you who didn't know Emma, she adored being outside, either throwing herself into a body of water, or climbing up mountains. Since moving to New Zealand she got out and explored every weekend. I swear she'd seen more of NZ than I have in 12 years here!

So I know, that as well as being super pissed off that this happened to her, that she would love you all for helping the LandSAR raise money for its volunteer organisation.

    Kia Kaha. x
