Raising money for Cholmondeley Children’s Home in Christchurch New Zealand.

Nationwide

In the beginning of August I fly to Perth Western Australia to begin a self supported bikepacking trip to Melbourne. Just myself bike and a tent. This adventure will cover 4000 kms and I will be totally self supported. At times water and food will be a challenge.

I’m 70 years young and are doing this adventure to raise money for Cholmondeley Children’s Home in my hometown of Christchurch New Zealand.

Once on the road I will be operating a spot tracker so that you can follow my live progress. You can also follow my FB and Instagram pages.

I also wish to inspire older and other people to move out of their comfort zone and challenge themselves.

Cholmondeley Home provides respite care and education for children (aged 3-12 years) whose families are experiencing stress or crisis. In these situations children can become vulnerable, especially when a family’s usual supports, like friends and family, are unable to help.

A stay or stays at Cholmondeley provide children with an opportunity to take a break, enjoy the experience of childhood, and discover their strengths in a safe and fun environment.

As a child, in the 60’s, myself and two younger brothers stayed here for 9 months and 6 months.

Cholmondeley Home is 80% self funded.

Knowing what the feeling is like when your family life is not as it should be it gives me great satisfaction, along with you, to be able to help with operating costs to provide this wonderful service and environment for children to prosper in.

Hi René. King Charles here. Camilla listens to your son Duncan on the Not for Radio Podcast and told me about your amazing bike ride for Cholmondeley Children’s Centre across Australia. As I’m a big supporter of such charities I thought it would be deserving of me to donate some of my tax free money to round off your fundraising to $34,000. Yours sincerely King Charles.

Had to dip in again René, before you closed it. Yes me again. I am still stunned you did it, without a day off. Also while feeling a bit crook. Covering a distance greater than the diameter of the moon. Mind boggling. You bloody Legend.
