Cycling the length of New Zealand for Parkinson's Disease sufferers across Aotearoa.
Nationwide
The Tour Aotearoa is an unsupported 3000km cycle ride from Cape Reinga to Bluff. The route takes in many national cycle routes that have proven to be a great way to re-invigorate the regions around the country. Brent Harrison has provided support and equipment to outdoor enthusiasts from Mainly Tramping and more recently Bivouac for many years. In the past few years he has met a new challenge of living with Parkinson's Disease and continues to inspire everyone he meets.
My challenge is to ride the Tour Aotearoa to raise money for Parkinson's New Zealand - for Brent and others like him.
My mate Brent Harrison has Parkinson's Disease. He was to have ridden the Tour Aotearoa to raise money for Parkinson's NZ, but is unable to do so right now. I'm stepping up.
All done! 14 March 2018
I reached Bluff at 5pm on Saturday. What a ride! Without doubt we live in a beautiful country and the people along the way have made this a most memorable trip. Riding the length of the country reveals it's underbelly too. So many cows and the evidence of climate change is everywhere. Drivers too, for the most part considerate and safe, have their rogue element.
