It terrifies me that 1 in 3 girls, 1 in 8 boys, 1 in 4 women, 1 in 2 transgender people experience some form of sexual abuse. That could be you, me, my friends, your friends, my family or your family. Chances are you know someone who has been affected. I know I do.
Survivors have to deal with consequences for the rest of their life, such as difficulties in relationships, ability to study, ability to work and overall takes a toll on ones mental and physical health.
The most helpful thing for recovery is support and counselling. HELP supports over 800 survivors of sexual abuse through their free 24/7 crisis line (04 801 6655 - press 0). Please support their work that impacts lives greatly by donating money it will be very appreciated.

I am running in Round the Bays 2020 to raise money for HELP, a support organisation for sexual abuse and assault survivors across the Wellington region. I believe that survivors of sexual abuse and assault deserve support as consequences are lifelong.
