This is a mental health movement event to fundraise for the Mental Health Foundation of NZ.
Wellington
Mental Illness is a serious issue in NZ and is often ignored. There are almost 500 deaths a year in NZ due to suicide and this number is not decreasing. In the world, someone dies as a result of suicide every 40 seconds. It has been found that approximately 1/3 of kiwis will suffer with mental distress in their life time. This is not an issue we should be ignoring, but it is something we should take action upon and try to make a difference. Me and Felix have decided to take action and do a movement for mental health event. We are taking action on this because we have both had life impacting experiences relating to mental health. This mental health event represents how tiring it is for someone each day dealing with a mental illness. But in order to do this event, we need your help. In our movement for mental health event there will be both a run and a swim located at Newtown Park and Wellington Regional Aquatic Centre. For every 20 dollars raised Felix will run 1km. This will be capped at 60km. For every 1 dollar raised, I will swim a lap. This will be capped at 1200 laps equaling 30kms of swimming. We would love for more people to get involved with this and help raise more money. You can contact Bri on 0273044846 and Felix on 0274143309.
We have personally suffered with mental health experiences and believe it is a big issue in New Zealand and action needs to be taken so we would like to help raise funds to help out
