Make mums proud! Raising money for Yellow Brick Road in memory of the wonderful Kate Saunders.
Otago
A year ago, we lost our mum to suspected suicide. We flew home from Dunedin to be with Dad and the family who had cared for her.
She lived with mental health issues for many years. As she entered menopause, her mental health deteriorated, and despite the love and support surrounding her, our family was left with an unimaginable loss.
In the months since, we’ve searched to make sense of Mum’s journey. We wanted to ensure other families don’t have to face the same heartbreak alone. We’re passionate about supporting organisations that stand beside whānau affected by mental illness, and about raising awareness of women’s mental health.
Just two days after Mum died, something remarkable happened. Our friends in Dunedin laced up their running shoes and ran for Mum. They weren’t just running for her—they were running for every mum, every family, whose life has been touched by mental illness. In the middle of our grief, their kindness left a huge impact.
We want that run to be an annual tradition.
This year we’re running to raise funds for Yellow Brick Road, an organisation that provides practical support and guidance to families and whānau supporting loved ones experiencing mental health challenges. We know firsthand how vital that support can be.
We would be incredibly grateful for your donation. Every donation helps ensure families receive the care, understanding and support they need.
Thank you for helping us honour Mum’s memory by bringing hope to others.
