'Run for our lives'. Scots College students running a team marathon to raise funds and awareness for 'Cure Our Ovarian Cancer New Zealand'
Strathmore Park, Wellington
On the 13th April 2022 a member of the Scots College community, a wife, a mum and an incredibly brave woman named Emma lost her five year battle with ovarian cancer. Emma was diagnosed on 15 March 2017 but was told she had been living with the disease since 2014. Aged just 52, Emma was taken too soon, leaving behind four beautiful children, a loving husband, and a legacy to raise awareness, funds and advocacy for change in relation to ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cancer (which includes ovarian, fallopian tube and peritoneal cancer) is the second most common gynaecological cancer. It’s also the deadliest, accounting for more than half of deaths for all gynaecological cancers combined.
As part of the fight to raise awareness and fundraising for 'Cure Our Ovarian Cancer New Zealand' all students of the Scots College Middle School (Years 7-10) will take part in a team marathon challenge on Friday December 1st. The students will run, walk or crawl if they have to to ensure their team of up to 6 runners completes a marathon distance around a track on the Scots College front field.
Each individual student is raising funds to contribute to a target of $35,000.
