Fundraising for Pet Refuge New Zealand Charitable Trust
Masterton, Wellington
On the 14th of February 2026 I am taking on the challenge to run the Tarawera 102km ultramarathon in Rotorua and raise funds for Pet Refuge.
Pet Refuge’s work is close to my heart. I stayed in an unsafe environment for many years, having no where to go with my beloved pets, I could not leave them.
I started running in 2020 at 51 years young. I started with a 2km run as part of a duathlon and have slowly built the distance to my longest race to date of 70km at the Taupo ultramarathon.
Running gives me an outlet from the past and everyday stresses of modern life. I enjoy Marathons but running on the trails in nature is where I find I’m happiest. It is a form meditation for me. It’s great to have a challenge to work towards, a goal to focus on, doing something I love, keeping fit and healthy.
Your support will help me to stay motivated through the training and on race day, but more importantly, your donation, directly helps these families rebuild their lives and be reunited with their pets in their new safe life together.
Every person and pet deserves a safe and loving home.
