  • Compromise follows injury

      8 May 2018

Unfortunately a runners greatest fear has become a reality for me, injury. After weeks of great training and being capable of running 26+ kms, I've had to rest for 3 weeks and wait for my shin splints (medial tibial stress syndrome) to heal. During these 3 weeks, my fitness has plummeted and my training plan has been thrown off. After being given the green light from my physio to run again, I've come to the realization that completing a full marathon would be something my body couldn't handle. Sadly the compromise I've made is that I'll be completing a half-marathon instead of the full-marathon. My Dad Martin, who has entered the full-marathon, will take responsibility for completing it on my and Grandad's behalf. Cheers everyone. Thank you for all your donations so far. It means a lot to have your support.
