Running for Grandma – My Half Marathon for Parkinson’s

Fundraising for Parkinson's New Zealand

Dunedin, Otago

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve run! However, I’ve commenced training for the Christchurch Marathon in April 2026. I’ll be running a half marathon (21.1kms) in honour of someone who helped shape who I am - my beautiful, brave, Gutsy Grandma.

Grandma wasn’t afraid of anything. She could single ski, catch big old snapper, and bake the best cakes you’ve ever tasted, all while living with Parkinson’s. The disease never defined her. She faced it the same way she faced everything in life: with grit, grace, and a great sense of humour.

In November it will be 2 years since she passed and I miss her more than words can say.

This run is for Grandma. And it’s for every person & family that’s been impacted by Parkinson’s. I’m raising funds to support research and care, to keep fighting for a cure, and to honour the strength of people like my Grandma.

If you’re able to, please consider donating. Every step I take is powered by love, filled with memories, and driven by the same grit that made her who she was.

Here’s to you, Gutsy Grandma. This one’s for you 💛

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
