Running the Tarawera Ultra Marathon for Multiple Sclerosis
Auckland
90% of funding for multiple sclerosis is through donations, without this they wouldn't be able provide advocacy and information to improve the lives of families affected by multiple sclerosis in NZ.
So to help raise awareness and funding I am going to be running the UTMB Tarawera Ultra Marathon next February. This is a 50km race with 1800 meters of elevation and will be by far the hardest race I have ever done.
The term multiple sclerosis refers to multiple areas of scarring (sclerosis) scattered throughout the brain and spinal cord. Multiple Sclerosis is an illness that affects around 1 in 1000 people in New Zealand. It can vary in severity and can be extremely debilitating. My Grandmother was diagnosed with this illness and I saw first hand the effects it had.
