Fundraising for Melanoma New Zealand
International
I have decided to run a half marathon to help raise awareness and funds for Melanoma New Zealand.
My life has been hugely affected in the last two years because of melanoma. After 10 years of fighting, my amazing Mother in law sadly lost her battle with melanoma two weeks after my wedding. Four months later my Dad was diagnosed with the same cancer and started deteriorating rapidly.
While he fights his battle I want to do my part for a charity who doesn’t receive any government funding despite having the highest rate of melanoma in the world. Melanoma NZ are working to raise awareness about the prevention and early detection of Melanoma. My wife has already had two melanomas removed since the age of 18; this affects all ages so please go and get your skin checked if you notice anything changing.
And as always “Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap”
I’m running the Bath Half in England, so even though I have personally not felt the sun in the last 6 months, New Zealand is as dangerous as ever, so go check out the free spot checks Melanoma NZ is putting on.
