Participating in The CENTRAL ITM Big Swim 10^6
Carterton, Wellington
My name is Jeremy (Jay) Hay, I'm a Rural Banker by day and an electronic music producer (isunray) and rocker (The Bojangles & TomTom & The Groove Daddies) by night.
I've been living in Carteron for around 18 months and my family and I are proud to call this beautiful town our home.
My son learnt to swim at the Carterton Indoor Pool and every time I've been there to watch him I've been struck by the amazing culture that Russell and team have created. I've seen incredible swimmers learn and train there and I know first hand we need to retain, preserve and grow this wonderful community.
The health benefits of swimming are well known and as an unfit middle aged rock musician I've in the last few weeks started to get back into the pool. Now I want to make my swimming laps count for something more than just myself.
My plan is to swim a minimum of 40 lengths of a 25 metre pool (1 kilometre) five days a week for the month of March. So that's 200 lengths a week (5 kilometres) and 800 lengths (20 kilometres) for the month.
If you donate you help motivate me to get into shape and help fix our pool so they can continue to teach, train and develop great swimmers. So if you're able to, please help this wonderful cause.

Hi Robin, thank-you so much for your generous donation. Yes my fitness levels should be a lot higher. Weight improving too, I was 142.9kgs at the beginning of Jan. Starting swimming end of Jan. I started with 20 lengths and to be honest after 10 lengths I was blowing but still did the 20 each time. Each session and each week I did a little more until last week I could 40 lengths without stopping. This week will be the first week I've done 5 days of at least 40 lengths. Weight now is 136kgs. Feeling good :).
Thank-you Sally you are the inspiration my intrepid friend.
