Raising funds to provide students at Rwenjaza Hillside School a cup of nourishing porridge every school day for a year.
Christchurch, Canterbury
On Friday 28th March 2025, some of the Selwyn House School year 5 - 8 girls will be setting off to 'Walk with a Purpose' raising funds to make a significant and life saving difference in the lives of others.
These Selwyn House School students are passionate about helping others and this year have decided to raise funds to go towards the life changing feeding programme, run by Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation NZ at Rwenjaza Hillside School in Uganda.
Rwenjaza is an extremely impoverished area where children walk up to 10 km to and from school every school day and often on an empty tummy. The feeding programme at the Rwenjaza Hillside School provides each student a nourishing cup of porridge which is life giving and life changing and costs just $36 per child for a whole school year.
Together with your support the girls would love to raise the funds required to feed as many of the 347 Rwenjaza School students, a cup of hot porridge for a whole school year as possible.
The girls will start walking a 10 km route to Selwyn House School at 6 am and will arrive to school in time to start the school day. The walk is expected to take approximately 2 hours and represents the distance some Rwenjaza Hillside School students in Uganda walk to and from school each day.
